PEACE SONG TAPESTRIES TEAM
The Peace Song Tapestries is the concept of Musical Director Tom Fitzgerald and was developed collaboratively with the support and creative team of Peter Sych, Anne Edwards, afactor.net, and Marc Van Camp.
DR THOMAS FITZGERALD
Composer, Musical Director, Conductor, Musician
has composed a diverse range of music for Film, Television, Live Concert and Musical Theatre Events. He has scored for Feature Films and Multi Media projects, including "Snapshot", "Stanley" and "The Good Cook" and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1999 for his film score in "Turtle World."
Dr Tom's concert performances include working with Elton John, Dionne Warwick, Sting, James Taylor, Nancy Wilson, and Sammy Davis Jnr, he worked extensively in New York City and on Broadway musicals such as "Evita".
As a Musical Director, he has conducted Symphony Orchestras and directed productions, several major television broadcasts and live Concert Events. Musical Production credits include "Les Miserables", "The Phantom of the Opera", the Melbourne International Festival of Arts & Moomba.
PETER SYCH, Software developer
Peter Sych of Applied Multimedia Technology is an internationally recognised software developer, he was born in Krakow, Poland in 1960 and migrated to Australia in 1981. As director of applied mulitmedia software development for the Victorian Arts Center, Peter was responsible for the centre's computer music projects.
Peter's achievements as a digital music instrument developer, include the SoundHouse Special Access Kit, incorporating the Banana Keyboard, which with specialised software provides a unique system to allow people with disabilities to access to the wonderful world of music creation and an innovative interactive digital laboratory for Casio.
MARC VAN CAMP, Video & Audio recording
Marc Van Camp is a Belgian born Australian Creative Artist who has extensive experience in professional recording sound and video projects. He has worked with the American singer/songwriter Don McClean, The Sinclair Brothers, One Earth Orchestra and many other fine artists throughout Australia and Europe. In addition to his studio activities, Marc also performs as a Guitarist/Singer and has composed over 100 original songs, available on E.M.I./ Fable Records.
AFACTOR (Anni Cleary), website design
afactor's first web site was launched with the fireworks on New Year's Eve, 1995 to house "The Iconolog, the art of virtual litter" an historical archive of early windows 32x32 icons devoted to the art of Iconography. The Iconolog & subsequent websites are linked from her domain afactor.net
HISTORY OF THE TAPESTRIES
The Peace Song Tapestries is the concept of Musical Director Thomas Fitzgerald for a project featuring the world's children sharing songs of peace, empowering understanding of each other, using the power of techonology and the World Wide Web to weave their peace songs into the tapestry of a new musical work.
RADIO PROGRAM
The Peace Song Tapestries radio programs were developed with the support of SBS Radio and the Australian Government through the Living in Harmony programme.
The radio program was officially launched on August 27, 2007. Special thanks to the students of Gawura campus of St Andrew's Cathedral School, whose performance of their own music on instruments they created, imbued the occasion with the spirit of the Peace Song Tapestries. Sing together
The first program was broadcast on the 13th November, 2007 on SBS World View (November 2007 to April 2008). Thank you to all those music makers who contributed and especially to our guest Presenters: Awar & Thomas Ayuel, Zaeed, Shegufta, Eddie, Johnny, Daniel, Audrey, Kate, Josh Batty, Paul Bender, Luke Batty, Rahat and Kim Dylan.
PEACE SONG TAPESTRIES CONCERT
The Living in Harmony Day Concert in Angel Place showcased the creative music that formed part of the Radio Program. The concert was sponsored by The City of Sydney, SBS Radio and the Australian Government through their Living in Harmony Programme.
