PEACE THEMES
We all share this one planet. Explored how we can do this in peace with each other and with the Earth itself. Communicate through your peace songs.

PEACE
Human history has often been violent, and our current theme focuses on finding ways to remember in peace and become reconciled with each other.
GLOBAL WARMING
How do you feel about the recent scientific discoveries that the Earth is changing fast, the atmosphere is getting warmer and causing alarming environmental consequences. Melting the polar icecaps producing rising sea levels have been accompanied by severe droughts and flooding rains. Many scientists predict that there will be further dramatic environmental changes in the future.
The comparison photos show the decline of two of the glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska; the Bear Glacier (photos: 1920 unknown, 2005 Bruce F. Molnia) and the McCarty Glacier (photos: 1909 Ulysses Sherman Grant, 2004 Bruce F. Molnia). These images are from Global Warming Art. Their Gallery of Climate Change Predictions provides interesting visual representations of how our world may be affected.
As environmental disasters force people to leave their lands in order to survive, large numbers of environmental refugees desperately need to find a new place to live.
How can these changes help people to get along better together, and when they don't and there are serious conflicts - over water rights and food production for example, can we learn to be kind and help each other instead.
What are some of the things that you, your family and community do to help the environment. How does your creative work express some of these issues, in music, song, dance and visual images?

GETTING ON BETTER WITH YOUR FAMILY & YOUR COMMUNITY
This Peace Theme explores tolerance and peaceful co-existance with a special focus on getting on with your family and your community.
Our first Peace Theme dealt with understanding, for all people; regardless of the colour of their skin, their religious beliefs, where they were born or live.
How do we create a world where everyone can be treated with respect and have a “fair go” in their daily activities. Aboriginal Australia has been a victim of discrimination and we will explore how to break down barriers and through tolerance, find new ways to a happier society.
Does it matter what “colour scheme” people are? Maybe you can think of some song lyrics or even come up with your own song melody to express your ideas. It’s easy to collaborate with other peacemakers as well.
